Frequently-asked questions about the discontinuation of Spamfire
Why did you stop supporting Spamfire?
Because we weren’t making any money at it.
Why weren’t you making money?
Because we stopped believing in the product and couldn’t enjoy developing, marketing and selling a product that we didn’t believe in.
Why did you stop believing in the product?
Because gmail developed near-perfect spam filtering that anyone can use for free and even use to filter a pre-existing email account without ever downloading or configuring or fussing with any software.
So gmail is better than Spamfire?
Yes.
Is gmail better than that other spam filtering software I downloaded?
Obviously.
So why did you keep on taking orders for Spamfire?
You argue with happy people who send you money?
Isn’t that what you’re doing now?
You didn’t really want to spend more money, did you?
So what? Now you’re just being a jerk?
No, I’m being a nice guy and giving you some free advice. Stop giving me money. Stop paying for spam filtering. Set up a gmail account or a Google Apps account. If you have an old email account, use gmail’s POP pickup feature to suck in your old email and give it to you, filtered, in gmail.
But I like to control my own filtering.
You don’t need a spam filter. You need a hobby.
See, you are a jerk.
You’re welcome.
